  • Job Details
  • A hospital in California is looking for an experienced ICU nurse for a travel contract.
    • Job Requirements
    • The right candidate will have 3 full years of experience, hold an active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS and CA License.
    • ALL CANDIDATES MUST HAVE CERNER EXPERIENCE.
    • No first time travelers and no duos!
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts/Hours: 12's; 7a - 7:30p/7p - 7:30a
      • Breaks: 1/2 hour break (clock-out); 3 - 15 min breaks per shift (CA Law)
      • Weekends: Every other weekend or equivalent of 4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule (Example: could be 2 in a row, then off 2 in a row)
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Unit: ICU and ICU-CV Recovery
        • Certifications/Certs: ACLS & NIHSS are required.
        • EMR System: Cerner required
        • Backup as secretary: 24/7 monitor techs on this unit also help out as secretary, etc.
        • USD in the patient rooms for direct care and monitoring
        • Charge Nurse: Exists but rarely takes patients
        • Orientation includes working in both East and West towers for floating purposes
        • Medications administered include all cardiac & vasoactive drips, conscious sedation
        • Vents maintained by Respiratory Therapy. RT 24/7 and Pharmacy 24/7 available. Dedicated pharmacist on the unit during weekdays.
        • Variety of patients include those with respiratory failure, sepsis, AMI, ARDS, GI bleed, etc.
          • Additional Details
          • Basic EKG interpretation test assigned during orientation.
          • Nurses must participate in multidisciplinary rounds.
